In 1934 our family moved to the Thompson farm four miles west and three miles north of Hills, Minnesota. I attended coutry school, district-38. We had to walk a mile to school(through the wind and the snow) but you’ve already heard that story.
My older brothers and sisters went by car to high school in Hills ane the driver was usually Orville Olson. When there was snow I woud gra on the back bumper and hang on for a mile to my school. Once my little lunch pail got caught under the sled and I had a rock salad before it was popular.
In March of 39 (all tenant farmers move in March) we moved by hayrack and farm wagons to what was to becme know as the rye far m one mile west of Hills.
