On December 7th,1941, I was out on our south 80 acres hunting rabbits with a remington 22 rifle and got back home about one in the afternoon and I found out about Pearl Harbor. My future brother in law came up the drive in his 34 ford and was talking about enlisting,which he later did.
My older brother,Norris, had already quit school because of my Fathers congestive heart condition and Norris responsible for farming the 240 acres and keeping his two brothers and four sisters in house and home.
My Father died in December of 1944 at the age of 56.
On June 18, 1945, eighteen days after graduation from high school, i was drafted into this man’s army.
