r-lee’s saga- the degrazia influence

R-Lee arranges his paintings beneath the shadow

image of his sister,Angela,(deceased) in the

family room of our home at 11245 Gramcercy Pl.

LaSierra, California. (1969) Earler, we had live on Cass

ave across the street from Phylis Pope. She was

an artist and saw R-Lee’s potential and became his

instructor in 1959. In 1962 we traveled from

Riverside, Ca.  to Hills, Mn. On the way we stopped

at  Taos, New Mexico and farmed R -Lee out to and

artist while the rest of the family explored Taos.

When we moved to Loveland,Colorado in 1970,

the downtown merchants sponsored a children’s

art show.R-Lee registred but then discovered that

he had to pay a fee to be eligble for the $25.00

prize. R-Lee  rereg;istred and than discovered that

he had to be under 12 years of age.R-Lee was over

14 years of aged. He convinced the people that he

was under 12 when he painted the pictures. They

admitted him and R-Lee won the @25.00 first

prize.
